App Store Optimization comes down to two different variables. The first and most important is the name of the app itself. This is where ASO differs from SEO. If you are starting a blog, who really cares what you name is. Sure it needs to be catchy and easy to remember but what really matters is the content of the site. That’s not the case with ASO. Because the store begins to search for keyword matches first in the name of apps that actually is very important. For example if you were to go to the App Store right now and search for a Scientific Calculator app, when you type in the word Scientific it is already searching for apps that include that word in their name. Adding the second part of the search will narrow it even more to the apps that have Scientific Calculator in their name.

While it’s true that the name is the first thing the App Store looks for when fulfilling the search needs of a customer, it’s not the only thing that matters. Each app also has a description as you have all seen no doubt. Putting key words into this description that let the store know your app deals with Scientific Calculators, will only help the app get noticed faster. The moral is that you should pay attention to what keywords are best for your market. Then you should give a nice simple name that includes such words and include them in your description as well.

 

In the world of mobile app development entertainment apps dominate the top 25 list in Paid, Free, and Grossing categories. You only have to go down somewhere in the top ten paid apps to find the first business-like app. In the top free the entertainment oriented apps are far more dominant, taking up entire top 25. Using the party scenario, this means all of the new IP addresses issued on IPv6 will be like throwing your own party where there is plenty of room for everyone and anyone.

But what does it mean for mobile owners? It’s pretty simple really. Every mobile device has a unique IP address. Even appliances now have IP addresses of their own. This doesn’t even consider the new devices we do and do not know about that will also need space. We love rolling out new apps and seeing great apps as much as anyone. We want to continue to watch others enjoy great new devices and great new apps and continue enjoying them ourselves. For this to happen into the future decade, the IPv6 protocol is needed. The good news is as long as the switch is being handled correctly now by most of the major players among internet providers and mobile providers, we should get to keep enjoying great apps on our mobile devices well into the future.

Today In History, has been around for quite a long time, and for several versions, but it has always been a people pleaser (though not without some service hiccups) and the latest iteration is even better than ever. I had not read the reviews in a while and was very thrilled to see so many positive responses.

With over half a million downloads for just the iPhone version alone, we’re extremely proud of offering a very straightforward, easy to use, non-overly commercialized application. The fact that it’s an educational application, makes it even a great accomplishment as it has once before, and we’re hoping will again, be in the top 10 education applications. In fact this sucess and love for education and general has actually given us a great new idea for an upcoming project, more on that later.

Downshift’s new website theme is finished and it sure looks great. Props to the design team! While we may have a new style going on over here, the apps remain the same. They will continue to serve you with mix of knowledge, laughter, and of course, procrastination!
